The city of Rhodes in Turkey - Rhodiapolis

Early morning, Kurt and I took the dolmus to Kumluca, 20km away. Then we started to walk, at a mosque we asked for Rhodiapolis. The man described the way carefully, in Turkish, and pointed out the direction. We followed the road and then there was a lot of signs. We soon saw the ruins on top of a hill. It was a hot walk already in February. The area was closed but other people walked around the fence and so did we. It's not much excavated but the amfi theater is very nice with good view.

Rhodiapolis was settled by people from Rhodes more than 2000 years ago. It was a rather small city. They minted silver coins which have been found.

The Akdeniz university has a station here.
